The included USB OptiLink converts the incoming USB data signal into an optical signal, which is transmitted via LC fibre to the OMNI USB. Here, the signal is converted back again. This optical connection creates electrical isolation between the input and output sides, preventing electrical noise and unwanted currents from travelling directly through the USB connection.OMNI USB can, for example, be placed between a network streamer and a USB DAC. After optical isolation, the connection is distributed through the unit's USB outputs. The system supports both USB 3.2 and USB 2.0, with data rates of 10 Gbps, 5 Gbps, 480 Mbps, 12 Mbps and 1.5 Mbps. PurePort, ANC and battery operation:Following optical isolation, noise treatment continues at the OMNI USB PurePort outputs. The unit has five PurePort USB ports with Active Noise Cancellation, including USB-A ports for both data and power as well as dedicated power outputs. According to the manufacturer, two of the outputs provide fully isolated power for bus-powered USB devices.The integrated lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 8,000 mAh. Battery operation makes it possible to disconnect the OMNI USB from mains power during use, helping prevent noise from the AC supply from entering the signal path directly. The battery management system is designed to maintain the charge between 20 and 80 percent as part of its automatic charging management. The combination of optical isolation, ANC and internal battery power provides several separate stages for managing electrical noise in the USB chain. Monitoring USB connections:The integrated TFT colour display provides direct information about the unit's operation and connected USB ports. OMNI USB can monitor power supply noise, including at the PurePort outputs, allowing the effect of ANC processing to be viewed in real time. The display also monitors power consumption on the available USB ports, showing voltage, current and power.For clock synchronisation, OMNI USB features a BNC input for an external clock. The unit also uses SilentPower's internal GMT clock system. This makes OMNI USB more than a simple USB hub or passive USB filter, combining signal processing, optical isolation, noise reduction, battery power, clock functions and diagnostics in a single unit. USB to S/PDIF and flexible digital outputs:OMNI USB can also operate as a digital-to-digital converter when a USB source needs to be connected to a DAC or other digital device with an S/PDIF input. Conversion supports up to 192 kHz/24-bit. Two coaxial digital outputs provide standard and high-voltage signals, while an optical digital output is also available.USB OptiLink features a USB-C host input and a separate USB-C PD3.0 input supporting up to 100 W at 20 V/5 A. PD3.0 can also be used for fast charging the connected source device. The package includes USB OptiLink, a 1 m LC fibre cable, USB-C to USB-C cable, USB-A to USB-C cable and SFP LC fibre modules for both 10G and 1.25G.
