The incoming LAN connection is converted into an optical signal and then converted back again. This optical galvanic isolation creates electrical separation between input and output, reducing the transmission of electrical noise through the network.After the optical conversion, the data stream is regenerated using active electronics and the internal femto-precision GMT clock. The design is engineered to keep jitter low and timing stable across the network. OMNI LAN can therefore be placed between the router and network-based AV devices such as music streamers, DACs, servers and media players. It supports up to 1000 Mbps, making it suitable for Gigabit Ethernet connections. Standard ports and Ultra-Pure connections:OMNI LAN provides a versatile combination of network connections. The 8 standard RJ45 ports are complemented by an optical SFP port, while the 4 dedicated Ultra-Pure ports consist of 2 RJ45 ports, one optical SC port and one industrial M12 port. The manufacturer recommends connecting network-based playback devices to the Ultra-Pure ports, while other network equipment is connected to the standard ports.A BNC clock input and output also enables the use of 10 MHz external clock synchronisation. Grounding can be configured using DC-RF, RF and ISO modes, allowing the switch's grounding to be adapted to the installation. The combination of RJ45, optical connections and M12 also provides flexibility for both audio installations and more extensive professional AV systems. Monitor network traffic directly:The integrated TFT display provides continuous information about network activity. OMNI LAN monitors the RX and TX data rates of the individual network ports, allowing both incoming and outgoing traffic to be viewed directly on the unit. This makes it easier to check which connections are active and monitor the current bandwidth of connected devices.For permanent AV installations, OMNI LAN can also be combined with the separate OMNI Rack Mount Kit. The rack solution occupies 1U and supports both single and dual compatible device configurations, as well as front or rear-facing installation. This allows the switch to be integrated into a 19" rack with convenient access to connections and organised cable routing.
