Easy expansion with five Gigabit Ethernet ports:

The D-Link DGS-105GL is an unmanaged 5-port Gigabit Ethernet switch for expanding a wired network in a home or small business. The five RJ-45 ports support Ethernet speeds of 10, 100 and 1000 Mbps, allowing compatible network devices to connect at up to Gigabit speeds. The total switching capacity is 10 Gbps, providing the switch with the capacity to handle traffic between its five ports.

As an unmanaged switch, the DGS-105GL requires no advanced configuration. It can therefore be used to add extra Ethernet ports to an existing network, for example when the built-in LAN ports on a router are not sufficient. Gigabit Ethernet also provides high bandwidth for network tasks such as large file transfers, 4K video streaming, video surveillance and video conferencing.

Traffic prioritisation and energy-efficient Ethernet operation:

The DGS-105GL supports IEEE 802.1p Quality of Service, which enables time-sensitive network traffic to be prioritised. This can be relevant for video and voice traffic, where traffic prioritisation can be important. The switch uses store-and-forward for processing Ethernet traffic and has a MAC address table with a capacity of 2K addresses.

IEEE 802.3az Energy-Efficient Ethernet helps reduce power consumption by automatically adjusting energy usage on the Ethernet connections. The switch is built in a compact metal housing and measures 2.24 x 8.5 x 9.09 cm. The DGS-105GL does not support IGMP, which is an important consideration when selecting a switch for network installations where IGMP functionality is required.
