Managed Gigabit switch with PoE:

The D-Link DGS-1210-28P/E is a managed Layer 2 network switch with 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports, combining data connectivity and Power over Ethernet in the same network installation. PoE enables both network connectivity and power to be delivered through the Ethernet cable to compatible devices, reducing the need for separate power connections at each device.

The switch supports IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at. Ports 1-4 can deliver up to 30 W per port via 802.3at PoE+, while ports 5-24 support up to 15.4 W per port via 802.3af PoE. This makes the switch suitable for network installations where PoE-compatible devices need to be connected to a central switch. The Gigabit ports support auto-negotiation and Auto MDI/MDIX, while IEEE 802.3x flow control helps manage data transmission.

Flexible uplinks and high switching capacity:

In addition to the 24 Gigabit PoE ports, the DGS-1210-28P/E features 4 Gigabit RJ45/SFP combo ports. The combo ports provide a choice between copper-based Gigabit Ethernet and compatible SFP connections, allowing the switch to accommodate different network topologies and connection types. SFP support covers Gigabit connections, while the switch provides a total switching capacity of 56 Gbit/s.

The MAC address table supports up to 16,000 entries, and jumbo frames of up to 9216 bytes are supported. Link aggregation enables multiple connections to be combined logically, while Spanning Tree Protocol helps manage redundant connections and prevent network loops. The switch also supports full duplex as well as half duplex at applicable Ethernet speeds.

VLAN, QoS and network security:

As a managed switch, the DGS-1210-28P/E provides features for network segmentation, traffic management and administration. Up to 4094 VLANs are supported, while Quality of Service with 8 queues enables different types of network traffic to be prioritised. Port mirroring can be used for monitoring and troubleshooting, while IGMP snooping supports efficient handling of multicast traffic.

Security features include Access Control Lists and MAC address filtering, which can be used to control network access. SSH/SSL support enables protected management, while DHCP functionality includes both DHCP client and DHCP server. The combination of Layer 2 management, VLAN, QoS, link aggregation and access control provides extensive options for structuring and managing a wired network.

Ready for rack installation:

The switch has a 1U form factor and can be rack mounted, making it suitable for central network installations alongside other rack-mounted equipment. Active cooling is provided by three fans. Product dimensions are 4.4 x 25 x 44 cm (H x W x L), and the net weight is 4.41 kg.

The DGS-1210-28P/E is specified for operation at temperatures from -5 to 50 °C and relative humidity from 0-95%. It combines 24 PoE ports, flexible Gigabit combo ports and managed network functionality in a compact 1U format.
