Gigabit switch with a 370 W PoE budget:

The D-Link DGS-1210-28MP/E is a managed Gigabit switch with 24 10/100/1000BASE-T ports supporting PoE and PoE+ according to IEEE 802.3af/at. The total PoE power budget is 370 W, and ports 1-24 can deliver up to 30 W per port. This allows both network data and power to be distributed over Ethernet cabling to compatible PoE devices.

The switch has a switching capacity of 56 Gbit/s and a forwarding rate of up to 41.7 Mpps. Large network tables are supported with up to 16,000 MAC addresses according to the provided specifications, while jumbo frames of up to 9216 bytes can be used for larger Ethernet frames. Store-and-forward is used as the switching method.

Flexible uplinks with GbE and SFP:

In addition to the 24 PoE ports, the DGS-1210-28MP/E has four Gigabit GbE/SFP combo ports. These provide the option of using either copper-based Gigabit Ethernet or compatible SFP connections on the respective combo ports. This provides flexibility when connecting the switch to other parts of the network infrastructure where either RJ45 or fiber is the preferred connection type.

Network features include automatic MDI/MDI-X, auto-negotiation, flow control and link aggregation. IEEE 802.3ad link aggregation enables supported connections to be combined, while Spanning Tree functionality helps manage redundant network connections. The switch also supports 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 1000BASE-T and 1000BASE-X.

VLAN, QoS and manageable network traffic:

As a managed switch, the DGS-1210-28MP/E provides a range of functions for network segmentation and traffic control. VLAN support includes port-based VLAN, MAC address-based VLAN, tagged VLAN and Voice VLAN. VLAN IDs up to 4094 can be used, providing extensive options for logically segmenting network traffic.

QoS, traffic classification and rate limiting can be used to prioritize and control traffic, while port mirroring allows traffic to be mirrored for analysis and troubleshooting. Multicast features include IGMP snooping as well as MLD v1 and MLD v2 snooping. The switch also supports IP routing with up to 32 static routes and can be managed through a web-based interface.

Access control and rack mounting:

Network protection features include Access Control Lists with up to 256 ACL rules, 802.1X/RADIUS, SSH, IP-MAC-Port Binding, BPDU protection and loop protection. Port-based and MAC-based authentication as well as Guest VLAN are also supported. These functions give administrators several options for controlling access and restricting unwanted traffic on the managed network.

The DGS-1210-28MP/E has a 1U form factor and can be rack mounted. The enclosure measures 4.4 x 25 x 44 cm (H x W x L) and weighs 4.73 kg. Two integrated fans provide active cooling, and the specified operating temperature ranges from -5 to 50 °C.
