Under this section are the well-known MiniJack cables and adapters with 3.5 mm. Jack plug. MiniJack cables are primarily used for transmitting mono or stereo sound, e.g. between older portable music players, phones/tablets and car stereos, TVs and headphones.
What is an AUX cable?
AUX stands for auxiliary and was originally the used term for an extra audio indput in legasy stereo systems, regardless of the connector type. This was then continued to car stereos up to the 90s (before Bluetooth was standard), here only with the Minijack connector type instead of, for example, RCA connectors. Over time, the name AUX cable has therefore become a synonym for a regular 3.5 mm. Minijack stereo male to male cable, which can be used to connect an external music player (iPod/MP3 player) or phone to your system in the car.
