A surround receiver is the heart of any home cinema, regardless of size. It is this component that ensures that power is delivered to your speakers and thus sound. In addition, your surround receiver must also be responsible for processing the audio signal together with the video signal, which often takes place over HDMI.

We have a large selection of surround receivers from both Yamaha and Marantz, which are among the biggest players on the market when it comes to surround receivers for the home. Here you get products with serious construction and many years of experience behind them.

If you want a simple surround receiver with the traditional 5.1 amplifier channels, these can be found in the cheap price ranges, or the mid-range segment, both in normal size and very compact models that do not compromise on the sound and can easily be hidden in a piece of furniture under your flat screen TV.

If you want to play with Dolby Atmos, this is also possible on mid-range and large models of surround receivers. Here you need seven channels as a minimum, and the receiver must of course be able to handle the signal - contact us if you have any doubts and choose the right surround receiver for your needs.

Surround sound receivers with Dolby Atmos

Where Dolby Atmos used to only be something you could experience in cinemas, it is now seriously finding its way into our living rooms. This places greater demands on your surround amplifier, as it must have extra amplifier channels built in, for the extra speakers that need to be mounted in the ceiling, or on top of your front speakers.

To make Atmos or DTS:X possible, your surround receiver requires at least seven amplifier channels available. By choosing a receiver with seven amplifier channels, you will be able to create what is called a 5.1.2 setup. This means that you have two fronts, one center, and two rear speakers.

In addition, there is an active subwoofer and of course the two Atmos speakers, which is the last term in the setup, and which gives you the effect of something moving above your head when you watch your favorite movies.

By choosing a surround receiver with nine, eleven or even thirteen channels, you have the option of both having more speakers around you, but also Atmos channels in the ceiling, for an even more impressive sound experience at home, which can match the image your large flat screen or projector can deliver.

By buying a surround receiver with more channels than you may need now, it also allows you to upgrade later if you want to expand with more new speakers. For example, you can start with a simple 5.1.2 setup, and later expand to a 7.1.2 or 5.1.4 setup if you choose a surround receiver with nine amplifier channels.

The surround receiver - the all-in-one solution with streaming

Once upon a time, a receiver simply had to handle the signal from your movies, and in the best case also had a radio tuner, so you could enjoy music in stereo when you weren't watching movies. However, the last few years have really taken off, which means that a modern receiver can do a lot of things today.

In addition to being the heart of your surround system, and being able to handle the sound from your movies, modern models also offer features such as Apple Airplay, Bluetooth, HDMI ARC / eARC, and wireless networking.

In other words, a surround receiver does an incredible amount of things in one box today. Unless you want more power for your front speakers, for example, a surround receiver can handle most tasks today.

Whether you want to enjoy music in stereo, get the sound from your TV into your system via HDMI ARC / eARC, or something completely different. The latest surround receivers also offer sound that in many cases can be considered Hi Fi quality, which was not the case before, unless you bought the very expensive high-end versions.

Regardless of which price range and model you choose, you will always have Bluetooth streaming and a radio tuner built into a modern surround receiver today, as a minimum. This tuner is usually for FM radio, where some surround receivers also offer the option of the DAB+ signal. Where functions such as Apple Airplay, Spotify Connect, ChromeCast and the like are usually only seen in the more popular mid-range models and up.
