The nine discrete power amplifier channels deliver 110 W per channel at 8 Ohm from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with 0.08% THD, measured with two channels driven. At 6 Ohm, the receiver delivers 150 W per channel at 1 kHz and 0.7% THD with two channels driven.The receiver can process up to 11.4 channels via pre-out, allowing the system to be expanded with external power amplifiers. Four independent subwoofer outputs also provide extensive flexibility when configuring bass reproduction. The amplifier section features Marantz HDAM-SA2, current feedback topology and discrete power amplifiers. The speaker terminals can also be assigned for functions including bi-amping and multi-room operation. Surround formats and room correction:CINEMA 50 SERIES 2 supports a wide range of modern surround formats, including Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, DTS:X, DTS-HD, AURO-3D, IMAX Enhanced, MPEG-H and 360 Reality Audio. Dolby Atmos can be used with dedicated ceiling speakers, integrating the height dimension into the surround setup. Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization and DTS Virtual:X provide additional options for processing height information.Audyssey MultEQ XT32 is included for adapting the sound to the listening room. The system also supports Audyssey Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume. The receiver's hardware is also prepared for Dirac Live, which can be added with a separate Dirac licence. This provides the option of using the included Audyssey calibration or upgrading later to Dirac-based room correction. 8K HDMI for movies and gaming:The six HDMI inputs support 8K/60 Hz and 4K/120 Hz, while the HDMI connections handle bandwidths of up to 40 Gbps. The receiver has three HDMI outputs in total, comprising two Main outputs and one Zone output. eARC allows compatible audio formats to be returned from a connected TV via HDMI.The video section supports HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HLG, Dynamic HDR and HDCP 2.3. VRR and ALLM are supported for compatible game consoles and computers, while AMD FreeSync is available on HDMI inputs 4-6. The receiver can also upscale HDMI video from 1080p and 4K to 8K. The combination of high bandwidth, modern HDR formats and gaming features makes CINEMA 50 SERIES 2 suitable as the central connection point for an extensive AV system. HEOS, hi-res streaming and flexible connectivity:Built-in HEOS provides network streaming and multi-room functionality, allowing the receiver to work with other compatible HEOS devices. Music can be played via Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, AirPlay 2 and TuneIn. Amazon Music, Amazon Music HD, Deezer, SoundCloud and several other services are also supported, and the receiver is Roon Ready.Network connectivity is available via Wi-Fi or Ethernet, while Bluetooth can be used for wireless connections and for transmitting audio to Bluetooth headphones. Hi-res files are supported at up to 24-bit/192 kHz for FLAC, WAV and ALAC, along with DSD at 2.8 and 5.6 MHz. Connections also include five analogue inputs, an MM phono input, two optical and two coaxial digital inputs, plus USB. This provides connectivity for modern digital sources, network playback and traditional hi-fi components.
