Linkplay forms the foundation of modern, flexible home audio systems. This advanced Wi-Fi streaming platform enables the integration of multiple audio zones across popular Hi-Fi brands and serves as the core technology behind WiiM products. Whether you own passive speakers or a vintage stereo system, or are simply looking for a new wireless speaker, WiiM offers the perfect solution. With the
WiiM Home app, you gain complete control over the music in every room via your smartphone or tablet. You can easily select music, adjust volume, and choose which rooms play audio—all wirelessly and intuitively. The WiiM lineup ranges from smart wireless speakers—such as WiiM Sound—to compact streaming players and advanced streaming amplifiers, giving you the freedom to build a custom multi-room system tailored to your needs.
While many regard SONOS as the go-to choice for multi-room audio, WiiM offers a range of additional benefits. The platform is compatible with almost any Wi-Fi speaker, providing far greater freedom when it comes to choosing your equipment. With a simple WiiM streaming player or one of their efficient streaming amplifiers, even older stereo systems can be given a new lease on life without needing a complete replacement. Much like the Sonos app, the WiiM Home app is used for control and setup, and thanks to the Linkplay platform, the system is compatible with many third-party apps. Furthermore, WiiM keeps pace with the latest trends in home audio—such as wireless and active subwoofers—with the new WiiM Sub Pro enhancing the listening experience through deep, intelligent, and room-calibrated bass. If you prefer a solution where services like YouSee Musik, Telmore Musik, or Apple Music are fully integrated into a single app, a
Sonos solution is recommended instead. With Sonos, these services can be played directly through the Sonos app, whereas on WiiM, they can only be streamed via AirPlay or Chromecast (Chromecast requires at least the WiiM Pro model).
WiiM Pro players support DLNA, making it easy to access local music stored on a computer or NAS server. Music files can be played directly, though there are some limitations regarding playlists and search functionality. For those seeking greater functionality, WiiM integrates with the advanced
Roon system; the WiiM Pro functions as a certified
Roon Ready Endpoint—perfect for audiophiles who demand maximum sound quality and integration. SONOS offers its own solution for local music playback, allowing users to create playlists and play files from their local network via the SONOS app. However, this feature has seen little significant development in recent years; WiiM offers a more modern, scalable alternative, particularly for users wishing to combine local music libraries with streaming services.
WiiM is more than just a streaming platform; it is a flexible audio ecosystem. With the launch of new devices—such as WiiM Sound (a high-resolution smart wireless speaker), the powerful WiiM Sub Pro (a wireless active subwoofer), and a soundbar—WiiM demonstrates its ambition to compete directly with major market players. The platform supports complete setups comprising streaming players, streaming amplifiers, and speakers; combined with room calibration and app control, you can easily create a customized system tailored to your preferences. Supporting services like Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Apple Music, and many others, WiiM delivers a comprehensive music experience. And with wireless connectivity, ongoing firmware updates, and broad compatibility, WiiM is a future-proof choice for both beginners and discerning audio enthusiasts.
