Music can be streamed via AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect and Roon Ready, while MusicCast provides access to network audio and multiroom functionality through Yamaha's app.The WXC-70A also brings multiple physical audio sources together in one system. Inputs include analog RCA, optical digital, HDMI with CEC/eARC/ARC and USB Type-A for music playback and firmware updates. Outputs include analog RCA pre-out, optical and coaxial digital audio, plus a dedicated subwoofer output. This allows the streamer to serve as a central connection point for network music, TV audio and an existing Hi-Fi system. Hi-Fi construction with advanced DAC and YPAO:Digital audio processing is handled by an ESS SABRE ES9039Q2M DAC with processing up to 384 kHz / 32-bit. Yamaha also uses its DAC on Pure Ground configuration, with circuit design focused on creating a clean electrical environment for sensitive analog audio signals. The enclosure is made from aluminum and features a vibration-resistant construction that supports mechanical stability.Using the included calibration microphone, YPAO can analyze the acoustic characteristics of the room and adjust playback accordingly. The system includes parametric EQ, YPAO Volume and YPAO R.S.C. (Reflected Sound Control), which addresses early reflections in the room. This allows the WXC-70A to adapt playback to its specific placement and listening environment rather than relying solely on a fixed sound setting. Flexible operation as a streamer or preamplifier:The WXC-70A can operate in both Player Mode and Pre Amp Mode. Player Mode bypasses the preamplifier functions and is intended for use with a dedicated Hi-Fi system, while Pre Amp Mode provides access to Yamaha's audio processing and YPAO. This makes it possible to select the operating mode according to the amplifier and system configuration in which the streamer is used.TV audio can be routed to the WXC-70A through HDMI eARC/ARC using a single HDMI connection. CEC also supports control of functions including volume and power from the TV remote. An adjustable Dialogue Level function can enhance dialogue clarity without simply increasing the overall volume. Everyday operation is available through the MusicCast app, the included remote control or the front-panel OLED display. Ready for multiroom and integrated installations:MusicCast makes the WXC-70A part of Yamaha's multiroom platform. Compatible MusicCast devices can be controlled from the same app, with individual playback in each room or linked playback across multiple rooms. Bluetooth with SBC and AAC codecs is also supported for direct wireless playback.For more advanced installations, the WXC-70A provides browser-based Web Setup, an IR input and a 12 V trigger output for synchronized power control of compatible equipment. Yamaha also specifies Control4 compatibility. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth can be disabled independently, providing additional flexibility in fixed installations where specific wireless functions should not be active.
