Classic Turntable With Modern Precision:

THORENS TD 1600 with TP 160 tonearm is a no compromise turntable for the demanding vinyl enthusiast seeking true analog sound in reference class. The construction is based on a stabilized subchassis resting on three conical springs mounted directly to the base. This design ensures piston like, controlled movement and significantly reduces unwanted vibrations. The classic real wood plinth combined with a two piece, precision turned 4.2 kg aluminum platter provides both visual elegance and mechanical stability. The internally grounded drive belt and adjustable belt tension contribute to consistent rotation and accurate playback at both 33-1/3 and 45 rpm. The result is a hi-fi turntable delivering impressive calmness, dynamics and detail, ideal for serious music listening in stereo systems and high end setups.

Advanced TP 160 Tonearm And Balanced Signal Path:

The 9" J shaped TP 160 tonearm is designed by Helmut Thiele and features an ultra precise knife edge bearing inspired by professional studio tonearms. The horizontal bearing is additionally stabilized by magnets to ensure maximum tracking accuracy and optimal contact between cartridge and vinyl record. With SME headshell connector you get flexible cartridge mounting, and the effective mass of 14 g makes the arm suitable for a wide range of MC cartridges. The turntable is equipped with both balanced XLR outputs and traditional RCA connections. The balanced connection minimizes electrical interference and noise, which is crucial for the sensitive phono signal requiring substantial amplification. The external linear power supply TPN 1600 with powerful toroidal transformer delivers 2 x 16V to the electronically controlled and stabilized AC synchronous motor, ensuring outstanding speed stability and pure analog reproduction.

Brand description - Thorens

ThorensThorens is a Swiss manufacturer of high-end audio equipment and best known for its wide range of high-quality, versatile turntables. Over time, Thorens has also produced harmonics and even automatic lighters, but now it is sound equipment and primarily gramophones that are in the product portfolio.

The family firm Thorens was founded back in 1883 in St. Croix, Switzerland and started producing music boxes and watches. Later in 1903, Thorens started producing phonographs of the Edison type and in 1928 Thorens produced their first electric gramophone (engine-driven). Later in the 1950s and 1960s, Thorens made a number of audiophile recorders, which are still known today as high-end audio products and highly sought after by collectors and audio enthusiasts.

Today, Thorens makes popular record players in all price ranges and has recently won an EISA award for their critically acclaimed stylish TD 309 gramophone
