The Marantz CD 70 is designed for music listeners who still enjoy their CD collection while also wanting the option to play high-resolution music files via USB. It plays standard CDs and CD-R/RW discs as well as WMA and MP3 files from compatible data discs. An upgraded high-performance DAC handles digital-to-analogue conversion and works together with Marantz HDAM circuitry to deliver the warm, nuanced and naturally balanced sound character intended by the manufacturer.

The internal design includes DAC Master Clock Design, carefully selected audio components and a symmetrical circuit layout. The analogue and digital circuits use separate rectifier circuits, while the chassis is further reinforced with a metal plate. The construction is therefore designed for stable and precise processing of the audio signal from disc to analogue output.

High-resolution music directly from USB-A:

The front USB-A port makes the CD 70 useful for more than physical CDs. Music files stored on a compatible USB flash drive can be played directly, with support for FLAC, WAV, AIFF, ALAC and DSD. This provides access to high-resolution digital music without requiring an external USB player.

For connection to a conventional stereo system, the CD 70 features a 2-channel analogue RCA output with gold-plated connectors. Optical and coaxial digital outputs are also provided, allowing the digital signal to be sent to a compatible external DAC or amplifier with a digital audio input. The digital output can also be switched off when not in use.

Dedicated headphone amplifier and flexible operation:

Headphone listening is integrated as a dedicated part of the CD 70. The dedicated headphone amplifier uses discrete HDAM circuitry and an HDAM-SA2 buffer, while volume can be adjusted directly from the player. Headphone amplifier gain can also be selected in the settings, allowing amplification to be adapted to the connected headphones.

For traditional CD playback, features include programming of up to 25 tracks as well as repeat and random playback. The built-in VFD display can be dimmed or switched off as required. The CD 70 also features a detachable power cable, automatic standby and Marantz D-Bus for compatible remote control. The front panel is made of metal, and the model is available in Black and Silver-Gold.
