Music is received wirelessly via Bluetooth and converted into an analogue stereo signal, which is then passed through the RCA outputs. This allows systems without built-in Bluetooth to gain wireless playback without replacing the amplifier or speakers.Bluetooth 5.4 and the Qualcomm QCC3095 form the basis of the wireless connection. ZEN Air Blue 2 supports aptX Lossless, which, with a compatible source device, can deliver lossless Bluetooth audio at CD quality of 44.1 kHz/16-bit and a bitrate of up to 1,200 kbps. This makes high-quality wireless listening possible when both the transmitter and receiver support the required codec. Broad Bluetooth codec support:A source device does not need to support aptX Lossless to work with the ZEN Air Blue 2. The receiver also handles LDAC, aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, standard aptX, AAC and SBC. This broad codec support makes it possible to accommodate different phones, tablets, computers and other Bluetooth audio sources.LDAC supports bitrates of up to 990 kbps, while the aptX family provides several options depending on the Bluetooth capabilities of the connected device. The actual codec and audio quality therefore depend on the source device. At the same time, the ZEN Air Blue 2 can continue to work with standard Bluetooth sources via AAC or SBC when the more advanced codecs are unavailable. Separate signal path for Bluetooth, DAC and amplification:Instead of relying on a single chip to handle the entire audio process, the ZEN Air Blue 2 uses a three-stage signal architecture. The Qualcomm QCC3095 handles Bluetooth reception, after which a separate ESS Sabre DAC stage converts the digital signal into analogue audio. The subsequent analogue amplification stage uses dedicated op-amps before the signal is sent to the RCA outputs.This design follows the same basic principle as traditional Hi-Fi components, where different parts of the signal processing are handled by dedicated circuitry. The result is a Bluetooth receiver that not only provides the wireless connection but also handles digital-to-analogue conversion, allowing it to connect directly to an analogue RCA input on an amplifier or active speakers. Flexible power supply for home and vehicle use:ZEN Air Blue 2 accepts 5-12 V DC and can therefore be integrated into both traditional Hi-Fi setups and compatible vehicle or battery-powered installations. When used in a vehicle, the unit can automatically switch on and off with the engine. This reduces the need for manual operation when the Bluetooth receiver is permanently integrated into the vehicle's audio system.A physical power button also provides manual control. The combination of the wide voltage range, automatic power control in vehicles and compact 3.5 x 10 x 15.8 cm enclosure makes the ZEN Air Blue 2 suitable for adding Bluetooth to an existing analogue audio system without changing the rest of the signal path.
