Digital audio is converted by the separate ESS-based DAC before the signal is sent directly to your headphones through the 3.5 mm S-Balanced output. This makes the GO link 2 a simple external audio solution for devices where the integrated headphone output or DAC is not sufficient.Support for PCM up to 384 kHz and DSD256 makes it possible to play both standard music files and high-resolution Hi-Res Audio. This applies to streaming as well as locally stored music files in supported formats. The design is also made for portable use. The GO link 2 weighs just 7.8 g and measures 13.7 x 1.2 x 0.76 cm, allowing the DAC to take up minimal space alongside a phone or computer. S-Balanced output and enhanced dynamics:The conventional 3.5 mm headphone output uses iFi's S-Balanced circuit technology. This applies principles from balanced circuit design to a single-ended 3.5 mm connection. According to iFi, the technology reduces crosstalk between the left and right channels by 50%, helping to keep the channels better separated without requiring headphones with a balanced 4.4 mm connector.The GO link 2 also features Dynamic Range Enhancement, which works with the difference between the quietest and loudest levels in the audio signal. At the same time, the DAC circuitry is optimised for low harmonic distortion. THD+N is specified at no more than 0.0015% at 1.27 V and 32 Ohm, while iFi states that distortion has been reduced by up to 62% compared with the original GO link. The result is a compact DAC designed with a focus on dynamics, channel separation and low distortion. Fine-tune the sound with iFi Nexis:The GO link 2 is compatible with iFi Nexis and provides access to additional settings directly from an Android phone. Two digital filters, Hybrid and Linear, can be selected to adjust the DAC's digital filtering according to personal preference. Nexis also supports over-the-air firmware updates, allowing updates to be installed without first downloading files and transferring them from a computer.The additional Nexis functions, including firmware updates, digital filter selection and volume limiting, are exclusive to Android devices. The GO link 2 itself works as a compact USB-C audio solution for compatible phones and computers and delivers up to 79 mW at 32 Ohm. Output impedance is below 0.4 Ohm, while the signal-to-noise ratio is specified at a minimum of 125 dBA at 2.05 V.
