The Class AB design operates with Class A bias at low power levels and delivers 180 W RMS per channel into 8 Ohm or 280 W RMS per channel into 4 Ohm. This provides substantial power reserves for speakers that place greater demands on the connected power amplifier.When even more power is required from a single channel, the AMP-F8 can be operated in bridged mode. In this configuration, output power increases to up to 500 W RMS into 8 Ohm. The amplifier can therefore be used both as a conventional stereo power amplifier and in a configuration where high output from a single channel is prioritised. MOSFET output stage and precise speaker control:The output stage uses three pairs of precision-matched high-current MOSFETs per channel. The parallel configuration distributes current across multiple output transistors and is designed with a focus on linearity and stable operation with different speaker loads. A damping factor of more than 400 at 8 Ohm and 1 kHz also provides excellent conditions for precise electrical control of the speaker drivers.The measured specifications underline the focus on a low-noise and linear signal path. THD+N is specified at 0.003% at 1 kHz, while the signal-to-noise ratio is at least 115 dB A-weighted. Frequency response extends from 10 Hz to 30 kHz within ±0.5 dB at 1 W into 8 Ohm. Channel separation is specified at no more than -95 dB at 180 W into 8 Ohm and 1 kHz. 800 W linear power supply:A custom-designed 800 W toroidal transformer forms the foundation of the linear power supply. The left and right channels have separate power supply sections, helping to reduce electrical interference between the channels. A capacitor bank consisting of 24 audio-grade filter capacitors supports current delivery when the music signal demands short and powerful dynamic peaks.The AMP-F8 also features an integrated DC blocking circuit. This circuit reduces the effects of DC offset on the mains supply, which can otherwise place additional strain on a toroidal transformer and cause mechanical vibration or audible hum. The combination of the powerful transformer, channel-separated power supply and DC blocking is therefore a central part of the amplifier's electrical design. XLR, RCA and solid aluminium construction:For connection to a preamplifier, DAC or streamer, the AMP-F8 is equipped with both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs. Input impedance is 10 kOhm for both connection types. The specified input sensitivity depends on the selected gain: XLR requires 5.2 V at 23 dB gain or 2.6 V at 29 dB gain, while RCA requires 2.65 V and 1.3 V respectively.The electronics are housed in a CNC-machined aluminium chassis that contributes to mechanical stability, heat dissipation and electromagnetic shielding. Two analogue VU meters on the front follow the signal level during playback, providing a direct visual indication of the amplifier's activity.
