MC cartridge with nude elliptical stylus:

The Audio-Technica AT33xEN is a Moving Coil cartridge developed to deliver a warm, full-bodied sound with detail across the frequency range. The design uses two independent moving coils for the left and right channels. The coils are made from PCOCC, Pure Copper by Ohno Continuous Casting, and positioned at the cantilever fulcrum to ensure clean signal transmission from each channel. The cartridge delivers an output voltage of 0.4 mV and has a specified channel separation of 27 dB at 1 kHz.

The nude elliptical stylus has a curvature radius of 0.3 x 0.7 mil and is mounted on a rigid, tapered duralumin pipe cantilever. This combination is designed for precise contact with the record groove and improved high-frequency control. This makes the AT33xEN a versatile choice for vinyl collections featuring many different types of recordings.

New suspension design and controlled tracking:

The AT33xEN uses a newly developed suspension system with piano wire and a rubber damper. The design has slightly lower dynamic compliance than other Audio-Technica cartridges and is developed with a focus on stable tracking and a more substantial presentation in the mid and low-frequency ranges. Dynamic compliance is specified at 6 x 10-6 cm/dyne at 100 Hz, while static compliance is 21 x 10-6 cm/dyne.

The recommended tracking force is 2.0 g, with an operating range of 1.8 to 2.2 g. The vertical tracking angle is 19°. The combination of suspension, cantilever and elliptical stylus profile creates a mechanical system designed to follow variations in the record groove precisely.

Cartridge body designed to control resonances:

The cartridge body is constructed from three different materials: die-cast zinc, aluminium and high-rigidity polymer. The materials are arranged to reduce and disperse resonances throughout the structure, helping prevent individual resonant frequencies from dominating playback. The dense and rigid zinc base also helps damp unwanted vibrations and supports Audio-Technica's focus on expressive reproduction in the mid and low-frequency ranges.

The AT33xEN features integrated M2.6 threaded holes. The cartridge can therefore be mounted with screws directly into the body without separate nuts, simplifying installation, particularly on headshells integrated into the tonearm. The terminal pins also feature thick gold plating to reduce contact resistance.
