Music is converted by two ESS Sabre DAC chips, with each audio channel using its own dedicated DAC. The separate processing of the left and right channels helps improve channel separation and provides clearer positioning of instruments and vocals.It features both a balanced 4.4 mm headphone output and a 3.5 mm output with iFi's S-Balanced technology. The balanced output delivers at least 241 mW at 32 Ohm and 4 V at 300 Ohm, while the 3.5 mm output delivers at least 100 mW at 32 Ohm and 2 V at 300 Ohm. This allows the GO link 2 Max to be used with a wide range of wired headphones and in-ear headphones equipped with the supported connectors. Hi-Res playback with greater dynamic range:The GO link 2 Max supports PCM up to 384 kHz as well as DSD256 and is designed for high-resolution music playback directly via USB-C. The DAC platform's Dynamic Range Enhancement increases the available dynamic range by +6 dB, allowing the difference between quiet and powerful passages to be reproduced across a wider range.iFi has also implemented adjustments in the DAC chipset that reduce second- and third-order harmonic distortion. According to the manufacturer, distortion is reduced by more than 50% compared with the GO link Max. Quad DAC+ and Time Domain Jitter Eliminator work together with iFi's GMT clock circuitry and a dedicated crystal oscillator to keep jitter and distortion at a low level. THD+N is specified at no more than 0.0007% through the balanced 4.4 mm output at 2.4 V and 32 Ohm. Hardware-based volume and noise-reducing cable construction:Volume adjustment takes place directly in the DAC hardware rather than solely reducing the digital signal through software. This means the volume can be adjusted from the connected device while the actual volume control is handled by the DAC with the aim of preserving signal detail.The integrated cable uses silver-plated copper conductors with individual polymer insulation. The conductors use a twisted pair construction, which reduces inductance and capacitance while helping to reject electrical noise. The combination of the short cable and compact construction also makes the DAC easy to use with a mobile device or computer when wired Hi-Res audio is required. Customisation and updates via iFi Nexis:On Android devices, the GO link 2 Max can be used with the iFi Nexis app. Firmware can be updated wirelessly over-the-air, eliminating the need to manually download firmware files to a computer. Nexis also provides access to volume limiting and a choice of two digital filters.The two filter settings are hybrid and linear, allowing the DAC's digital filtering to be adjusted directly from the Android device. According to iFi, Nexis functions including firmware updates, filter selection and volume limiting are additional features available exclusively on Android.
