Highlights:• Galvanic isolation between USB source and audio system• Active noise cancellation on the 5 V USB power supply • Up to 40 dB reduction of EMI and RFI noise • USB 3.1 compatible with data speeds up to 10 Gbps • OFHC copper conductors in a parallel configuration • Four layers of shielding against external interference • 90 Ohm impedance with 1% deviation • USB-C to USB-A and USB-B adapters included USB cable with galvanic isolation:The SilentPower Pulsar USB is designed for digital audio connections between a USB source and, for example, a USB DAC. The construction separates the power and data paths and uses galvanic isolation between the source and audio system. The purpose is to prevent electrical noise caused by factors such as ground potential differences and RF interference from travelling through the USB connection. The galvanic isolation is integrated directly into the cable solution, allowing the Pulsar USB to handle both data transfer and noise isolation. The cable has USB-C male connectors at both ends, while the included USB-C to USB-A and USB-C to USB-B adapters provide additional options for connecting existing USB equipment. Active noise cancellation on USB power:A USB connection transfers not only digital data but can also supply 5 V power to connected equipment. This power path can carry EMI and RFI noise from the source device's electronics to equipment such as a DAC. The Pulsar USB uses SilentPower's Active Noise Cancellation technology on the power path to reduce this electrical interference. The technology generates an inverted signal that counteracts the detected noise. According to SilentPower, the solution provides up to 40 dB of noise reduction and a power path that is up to 100 times quieter than standard filtering. The USB power output is specified at 5 V/1.5 A, allowing power and data to pass through the same connection while noise cancellation operates on the power supply. Cable construction for stable signal transfer:The cable itself is constructed with heavy OFHC copper conductors arranged in a parallel configuration. This design is intended to minimise inductance, reduce crosstalk and preserve signal integrity throughout the connection. The conductors are insulated with HD polyethylene and surrounded by four layers of shielding to protect against external electrical interference. The Pulsar USB has a specified impedance of 90 Ohm with 1% deviation. The combination of controlled impedance, parallel conductors and extensive shielding is designed for stable USB data transfer. The cable is 1 metre long and supplied as an integrated solution with the active electronics built into the connection. 10 Gbps USB connection for high-resolution audio:The Pulsar USB is compatible with USB 3.1 and supports data transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbps. The high bandwidth makes the connection suitable for transferring large high-resolution audio files without limiting USB data speeds. The standard connection is USB-C male to USB-C male. A USB-C to USB-A adapter and a USB-C to USB-B adapter are also included, allowing the cable to be used with several common USB connections. A Quick Start Guide and instruction card are also supplied.
