It uses Active Noise Cancellation III, which detects EMI/RFI noise on the power line and generates an opposing signal to actively counteract the interference. Noise reduction is specified at more than 40 dB, equivalent to over 100x.The AC iPurifier 2 operates in parallel with the mains supply rather than being placed in series between the wall socket and AV components. This means that the components' power does not pass through the unit. The solution is designed to provide an electrically cleaner foundation for audio and AV systems by reducing high-frequency noise and interference from the mains supply. LED diagnostics for power and ground:The AC iPurifier 2 also functions as a compact diagnostic tool for the mains connection. Its integrated LED indicators make it easy to check whether the connection is operating as expected and can indicate issues including polarity and grounding. This simplifies troubleshooting when problems with the AV system's power supply are suspected.The unit also features a 4 mm ground terminal that can be used with the iFi Groundhog+ to establish a supplementary ground connection. Grounding is also relevant to noise reduction, as iFi's common-mode noise reduction requires a ground reference to operate. Differential noise reduction between live and neutral remains active without this reference. Integrated surge protection:In addition to noise reduction, the AC iPurifier 2 features built-in surge protection. It is specified to handle up to 22,000 A at 1,000 V with an 8/20 µs impulse. The protection is designed to absorb short-duration voltage spikes and transients on the mains supply, adding an extra layer of protection for the connected AV system.The wide operating voltage range of 90-265 V AC makes the design suitable for different mains voltages. The EU version measures a compact 13.7 x 4.0 x 4.0 cm and weighs 150 g, combining noise reduction, diagnostics, grounding connectivity and surge protection in a small plug-and-play unit.
