The SPU Mono GM MkII is a high output Moving Coil cartridge a with a spherical stylus profile, for the playback of early 25µm mono recordings. More than 100 years ago, the great Danish success story began, which later became the Ortofon we know today. On October 9, 1918, the two Danish engineers Axel Petersen (1887-1971) and Arnold Poulsen (1889-1952) founded the 'Electric Phono Film Company' in Copenhagen along with a few forward-thinking businessmen who wanted to financially support the organization. Their goal was to explore the possibility of high-class sound recording and to develop one of the first sound-synchronized film systems in the world.

Ortofon is a shining example of a Danish brand that reaches far beyond the country's borders and is therefore also sold in more than 60 countries, including the United States and Japan.
