Every part of the design focuses on preserving the delicate signal from your MC cartridge in its purest possible form. The custom aluminium enclosure shields the internal circuitry from RFI noise and external interference, allowing your turntable and cartridge to perform at their full potential.Based on the technology used in the Reference Aura MC and factory preset for Rega MC cartridges, this phono preamplifier also offers extensive flexibility. You can select resistive input loading from 70 Ohm to 400 Ohm and capacitive loading from 1000 pF to 4300 pF. A 6 dB gain adjustment on the rear panel makes it easy to integrate the unit into a wide range of hi fi systems. The result is an MC phono stage with outstanding RIAA accuracy and a sound character that feels open, dynamic and exceptionally detailed. Advanced Class A Circuitry With Ultra Low Noise:The first stage is built as a symmetrical, complementary Class A amplifier using Linear Systems ultra low noise FET transistors. The parallel connected FETs are configured as a compound pair and carefully matched to ensure optimal performance. By using FET technology, no bias current flows through the cartridge coil, protecting the sensitive magnetic geometry of your Moving Coil cartridge and maintaining signal integrity.The input circuit avoids coupling components between the cartridge output and the FET input stage, reducing distortion and preserving clarity. The first stage drives the passive high frequency section of the RIAA equalisation, while the second stage features a symmetrical Class A differential amplifier with a common base driver. This stage manages the active low frequency part of the RIAA curve, delivering precise and stable reproduction with RIAA accuracy better than ±0.2 dB.
