Slim 2.5-way design with ribbon tweeter:

The Scansonic MB2.5 B is a floorstanding speaker built around a 2.5-way configuration with a sealed ribbon tweeter, a 5.25" carbon fibre mid/bass driver and an additional 5.25" carbon fibre bass driver. The extra bass driver supports reproduction in the demanding low-frequency range, while the crossover frequencies are set at 500 Hz and 2600 Hz. This combination gives the MB2.5 B a frequency range of 36 Hz to 40 kHz and a sensitivity of 88 dB.

The slim construction makes it possible to accommodate two 5.25" drivers without requiring a wide cabinet. Scansonic recommends a high-quality amplifier rated at more than 50 W for the speaker.

Braced cabinet with focus on acoustics:

The cabinet is heavy, curved and heavily braced, with additional carbon fibre reinforcement. Its vented bass reflex design uses a front-firing port, while adjustable aluminium feet make it possible to adapt the speaker to its placement.

The cabinet shape also serves an acoustic purpose. The rounded edges are designed to reduce diffraction and thereby minimise the cabinet's influence on the frequency response. The MB2.5 B therefore combines a narrow front profile with a more organic, curved shape when viewed from the side. The result is a distinctive Nordic design in which the cabinet shape is not merely a visual element, but also forms part of the speaker's acoustic construction.

Nordic design in several finishes:

The MB2.5 B measures 99.8 cm in height and has a front width of just 17.8 cm. The depth is 28.6 cm, and each speaker weighs 15.6 kg. This creates a tall and slim format combined with a solid cabinet construction.

The speaker is available in black silk, white silk and walnut finishes. Viewed directly from the front, the cabinet appears simple and geometric, while the curved sides become more apparent from an angle.
