Compact soundbar with immersive Dolby Atmos sound:

Sonos Beam Ultra is designed to deliver a larger and more spacious home cinema experience from a compact enclosure. The soundbar uses 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos surround sound, allowing compatible film and TV content to be reproduced with a distinct sense of width, direction and height. Two upward-firing tweeters in directional horns support height effects, while two side-firing mid-tweeters contribute to stereo separation. The forward-facing centre tweeter focuses reproduction around the centre of the soundstage, while four low-profile woofers handle the lower frequencies.

Beam Ultra uses a total of nine digital Class D amplifiers tuned to the soundbar's acoustic architecture. Supported formats include Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, Multichannel PCM and DTS Digital Surround. Dolby Atmos Music is also supported through the dedicated upward-firing drivers. Certain audio formats and Dolby Atmos experiences require HDMI eARC and compatible content.

Clear dialogue and sound tailored to the room:

AI Speech Enhancement is designed to identify human voices and make dialogue easier to follow. The feature can be adjusted across four levels in the Sonos app, allowing the degree of speech enhancement to be tailored to the content and situation. Night Sound provides another level of control by reducing the intensity of loud sounds while enhancing quieter details. This makes content easier to follow at lower volume levels.

Trueplay measures the acoustic characteristics of the room and fine-tunes the equaliser according to the placement and surroundings. The feature is compatible with both iOS and Android devices. Bass, treble and loudness can also be adjusted manually in the Sonos app. If the top of the soundbar is obstructed by its placement, the simulated height audio feature can be selected in the app to optimise the reproduction of height effects for the current setup.

Easy connection to TV, music and the Sonos system:

Beam Ultra connects to the TV's HDMI eARC or ARC port using the included HDMI cable, and the existing TV remote can be used for everyday control. Capacitive touch controls on the soundbar provide access to functions including playback, pause, track skipping and volume adjustment. Sonos Voice Control enables voice operation, while the microphones can be physically disconnected using the switch on the rear.

For wireless audio, Beam Ultra supports WiFi 6 on compatible 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks as well as Bluetooth 5.3. Apple AirPlay 2 enables streaming from compatible Apple devices. The USB-C port can also be used with separate Sonos accessories for either 3.5 mm line-in or Ethernet.

Beam Ultra can serve as the foundation of a larger Sonos home cinema system. A compatible Sonos subwoofer can be added for more bass, while compatible Sonos speakers can be used as surround speakers. TV audio can also be transferred from the soundbar to compatible Sonos headphones.

Discreet dimensions with flexible placement:

At 75 cm wide and just 6.5 cm high, Beam Ultra is designed to take up relatively little space around the TV. It can be placed on furniture or mounted on the wall using a compatible Beam Ultra wall mount, sold separately. The enclosure has a matte finish and is available in black or white.

The soundbar features far-field microphones with beamforming and multichannel echo cancellation for functions including voice control and Trueplay. Status lights indicate connection status, microphone activity and mute status. The internal power supply supports 100-240 V at 50/60 Hz, and the soundbar comes with a 2 metre power cable and a 1.5 metre HDMI cable.
