Compact floorstanding speaker with controlled and dynamic sound:

The Q Acoustics 3040c is a compact floorstanding speaker designed to deliver a wide frequency range and precise sound reproduction without taking up unnecessary floor space. It is equipped with two 120 mm mid/bass drivers and a 22 mm soft dome tweeter, providing a sensitivity of 88 dB and a frequency range from 43 Hz to 30 kHz.

The mid/bass drivers use Q Acoustics' C3 Continuous Curved Cone profile. The distinctive cone geometry combines the acoustic benefits of a traditional straight conical profile with the improved midrange control of a curved profile. This contributes to a smooth frequency response, low distortion and a natural transition between the mid/bass drivers and the tweeter.

Engineered for precision and low distortion:

The two 120 mm drivers use powerful motor systems and 25.5 mm voice coils wound with copper-clad aluminium wire on a glass-fibre former. The lightweight construction reduces moving mass, while the non-conductive former eliminates eddy currents that could otherwise affect sound quality. An integrated aluminium demodulation ring also helps reduce modulation distortion in the midrange.

The tweeter is mechanically isolated from the cabinet and mounted inside a sealed chamber, preventing cabinet vibrations and internal pressure variations from affecting its performance. The 22 mm soft dome driver is designed for wide dispersion and a linear frequency response, resulting in open and detailed high-frequency reproduction.

Rigid cabinet construction for cleaner sound:

The cabinet is constructed from 16 mm MDF with a 25 mm HDF front baffle, providing high rigidity around the drive units. Internal P2P bracing is positioned precisely where additional reinforcement is required, reducing resonance without taking up unnecessary cabinet volume. The 3040c also features a Helmholtz Pressure Equalizer (HPE), which reduces standing waves and pressure variations inside the cabinet for more controlled bass reproduction.

The speaker uses a rear-firing low-turbulence bass reflex port. When placed close to a rear wall, the supplied foam bung can be used to reduce port output and limit excessive bass reinforcement. The supplied die-cast aluminium stabilisers with adjustable spikes provide a secure installation on both carpets and hard floors.
