At a time when many floorstanding speakers featured conventional and uninspiring designs, the original Talisman stood apart with its elegant proportions and distinctive appearance. That same philosophy continues with Talisman-R, combining timeless styling with modern materials and advanced acoustic engineering.The cabinet features a slim, elegant profile that blends naturally into contemporary interiors without dominating the room. Its appearance is carefully matched to Ruark's premium 100 Series, making Talisman-R the ideal partner for both the R610 Music Console and the R710 CD Hi-Fi Console. Its custom-designed 165 mm Ruark NS+ long-throw bass/midrange driver features a treated fibre cone, a powerful ferrite motor and a 35 mm dual-layer copper voice coil. Together these elements provide excellent cone control, low distortion and rich, articulate bass and midrange reproduction.High frequencies are handled by a 27 mm silk dome tweeter with a neodymium motor, delivering open, detailed and refined treble without harshness. The transition between the drivers is managed by an optimised 2nd order crossover using carefully selected audiophile capacitors, low-loss inductors and premium resistors. Extensive attention has also been given to phase integration, ensuring both drivers operate as one cohesive sound source. The result is a wide and accurate stereo soundstage, lifelike vocals and an engaging listening experience. Advanced cabinet engineering for low distortion:A significant part of a loudspeaker's performance depends on how effectively the cabinet controls unwanted vibrations. For this reason, Ruark has developed Talisman-R with its advanced decoupled baffle design, where the front baffle is mechanically isolated from the main cabinet using elastomer bushes and a dual damping layer.This construction effectively reduces the transfer of vibrations from the drive units into the cabinet, minimising resonance and cabinet coloration. The result is cleaner, more accurate sound reproduction with greater detail and transparency. Internally, the enclosure is strategically braced to further reduce resonance, while acoustic damping material absorbs energy across a broad frequency range and controls internal standing waves. The specially developed dual-flared bass port ensures smooth airflow with minimal port noise while delivering deep, controlled bass response extending down to approximately 35 Hz under typical in-room conditions.
