The story behind CANVAS HiFi:

CANVAS HiFi was founded with a clear ambition: to develop a sound system that integrates naturally with modern televisions, both visually and mechanically, without compromising sound quality. The vision was to create a solution capable of delivering an authentic HiFi experience in a form factor traditionally associated with significant acoustic limitations.

Two challenges quickly became apparent. The first was achieving precise and controlled bass, even when the system is placed close to walls and furniture. The second was creating a convincing stereo image, despite the speakers being positioned much closer together than in a conventional HiFi system. Rather than accepting these limitations, they became the starting point for a multi-year development process in which acoustics, mechanics and electronics were developed hand in hand.

CANVAS is built on the belief that modern design and genuine HiFi do not have to be opposites. From the very beginning, the goal has been to combine discreet integration with a listening experience that puts the music back at the centre.

A desire to revive HiFi:

As audio products have become smaller and more versatile, CANVAS believes that many solutions have moved away from the sonic ideals on which traditional HiFi is built. The focus on compact enclosures and multifunctional products has often resulted in compromises, where neither music nor movies are reproduced with the depth and precision that enthusiasts expect.

CANVAS aims to reintroduce the qualities that have defined an authentic HiFi experience for decades. The philosophy is that a sound system should not only blend naturally into the home visually, but also deliver sound reproduction that preserves the detail, dynamics and sense of space found in the original recording.

Founded on experience and passion:

CANVAS HiFi was established in 2022 by CEO Laust Nielsen and CTO Kim Neeper Rasmussen after several years of collaboration. They met in 2019 and quickly discovered a shared ambition: combining advanced audio technology with a deep understanding of customer needs and modern interior design.

Laust Nielsen comes from a family with decades of experience in the HiFi industry and has spent his career developing retail concepts and customer experiences within high-end audio and television. His understanding of how audio products are used in real homes has played an important role in shaping the development of CANVAS.

Kim Neeper Rasmussen has worked professionally with audio technology since his early years. For more than two decades, he has been involved in the development of everything from amplifiers and surround processors to wireless speakers and high-end loudspeaker systems. His expertise spans industrial design, mechanical engineering, acoustics and electronics, providing the technical foundation of CANVAS.

Innovation centred on the listening experience:

The development of CANVAS has been driven by extensive research and a determination to challenge the traditional limitations of integrated sound systems. Through a focused development process, the company has created new acoustic solutions designed to achieve more controlled bass reproduction and a more convincing stereo image within a compact enclosure.

For CANVAS, innovation is not about making sound systems smaller or adding as many features as possible. Instead, the focus is on developing technologies that bring listeners closer to the music and create an experience where engineering, design and acoustics work together. This philosophy continues to form the foundation of the company's development and its vision of combining modern interior design with authentic HiFi.
