Beyerdynamic is a German family-owned company that produces microphones, headphones, wireless audio systems, and other audio equipment. Founded in Berlin in 1924 by Eugen Beyer, the company has since established itself as a leading manufacturer of headphones for both consumers and professionals. Beyerdynamic has introduced several iconic headphone models, including the popular DT880 series, launched in 1980. The DT880 quickly became a success and continues to be produced in various versions today.
Beyerdynamic headphones are available with different impedance levels, allowing you to find the right model for your equipment and needs. Here’s a quick guide to which headphones are best suited for different applications:
12-32 Ohms: These headphones are easy to drive and ideal for portable devices such as smartphones, iPods, laptops, and MP3 players.
250 Ohms: The all-round version has a somewhat lighter voice coil, offering better sound quality. However, it requires more power to drive, delivering the best audio quality when paired with high-quality equipment.
600 Ohms: The high-end version with an extremely light voice coil provides the best sound quality. Due to its high impedance, it demands a robust setup and is recommended for use with a quality headphone amplifier for optimal audio performance.
