Where around-ear headphones are models that sit around the ears, are the on-ear models - as the name indicates, headphones that sit on the ears themselves. The principle between the two is more or less the same. Packing larger speaker units into the products, which can provide a greater audio experience. Unlike around-ear headphones where the size of your ears can affect comfort, the case is another with on-ear. Therefore, as they sit on the ears and do not encapsulate them, they can fit on any size of ears.
The battery life of a wireless on-ear headset is usually between 20-30 hours. Compared to real wireless headphones, or neckband phones, battery life is over twice as long. This can be done as the headphones are physically larger, which means that there is room for more components, and therefore larger batteries.
The way you connect a set of wireless on-ear headphones is similar to pretty much every other model on the market. This is done using Bluetooth, which is a universal connection type that can be used across devices and platforms and makes it easy to connect. Some models of on-ear headphones also offer advanced control via an application that you can download on your smartphone or tablet.
